Jonne Halttunen

After joining Kalle Rovanperä in 2017, Halttunen rose to WRC stardom. He claimed his maiden WRC rally win with the Finn in 2021 and more success is surely on the cards.

The story so far

Halttunen made his first appearance as a co-driver in 2009 at a national rally in Finland and enjoyed competing as a hobby with various local drivers.

After making his WRC debut at Neste Rally Finland in 2011, the Finn started to contest more events before expanding his schedule to include rallies across Europe in 2014. He also won the Finnish Championship with his fellow countryman Teemu Asunmaa the following year.

In 2017, Halttunen teamed up with Kalle Rovanperä for the first time and the pair took part in WRC2 at Rally GB and Rally Australia in a Ford Fiesta R5.

They embarked on a full WRC2 campaign in 2018 aboard a Škoda Fabia R5. Two wins in Great Britain and Spain helped them finish third in the championship and they secured the WRC2 Pro title the following year in the same car.

Halttunen got his big break in 2020 when he joined Toyota Gazoo Racing alongside Rovanperä in a Yaris World Rally Car. They netted a podium finish on their second event in Sweden and ended the year in fifth.

The 2021 season was even more successful as the pair took victory at Rally Estonia in July before repeating the feat in Greece just two months later. They secured fourth in the championship and have been tipped by many as future world champions.
