Biography

Martin Prokop learned his craft on home territory in the Czech Republic before stepping up to the world stage in 2005 with a Junior World Rally Championship campaign in a Suzuki Ignis.

He switched to a Citroen C2 S1600 for 2006 and took his first Junior WRC win in Spain. Further progress came in 2007, when he finished third in the standings, thanks to wins in Germany and Corsica.

In 2008 he ran a double programme, driving the C2 in the Junior WRC and a Mitsubishi Lancer in the Production WRC, finishing third and fifth respectively.

Prokop finally mastered the junior series in 2009, winning the world title on his fifth attempt and also claiming the runner-up spot in the production series.

He switched to the new SWRC with a Ford Fiesta S2000 and finished third in both 2010 and 2011, before progressing to World Rally Car level in 2012 with a 10-event programme in a Fiesta RS World Rally Car.

He took a fine fourth in Argentina, and again in Germany the following year, and tackled further full seasons in 2014 and 2015. His WRC appearances became more sporadic as he focused on the Dakar Rally from 2016 onwards.
