KAJETAN KAJETANOWICZ

Three-time European champion Kajetan Kajetanowicz returns to WRC2 after the heartbreak of missing out on a first world title in a storybook climax to WRC3 in 2021.

The Pole’s career began in 2000 in a Fiat 126p. After many seasons competing on home ground he made his breakthrough in 2008, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer to the Group N crown in the Polish Championship.

A switch to a Subaru Impreza brought four years of dominance as Kajetanowicz lifted his national title from 2010 to 2013.

He claimed his maiden European Championship event victory at his home round in 2010 and attempted a European campaign for the first time in 2014 in a Ford Fiesta R5. He finished fourth.

It laid the platform for a period of unparalleled success for Kajetanowicz in Europe. He became the first driver to win three consecutive titles in 2017 and scored four outright wins during his treble triumph.

Kajetanowicz made the step to world level in 2018 and the following year finished second in WRC2, using both a Volkswagen Polo and a Skoda Fabia.

He opted for the Fabia in 2020 to take third in WRC3 before finishing runner-up in 2021 after a ding-dong battle with Yohan Rossel. Kajetanowicz won three rounds but missed the title when Rossel relegated him in the final stage of a winner-takes-all shootout at the final round.

2022 saw 'Kajto' stepping up to WRC2 and he was once again on the pace, winning Safari Rally Kenya and finishing second on three other occasions to be in the fight for the championship going down to the final round in Japan. However, an early prang ruled the Pole out, ruing another missed opportunity on fighting for the title.
