Sermon Series: Dave in Real Life

Tuesday, May 08, 2012 ~ 3:47 pm

Ol’ Dave was a wild one. His name may be a bit boring, but his life was the complete opposite.

He did it all - slayed a giant, fought on the front line in gruesome battles, regularly talked with God, conquered kingdoms like it was going out of style.

But what happened along the way? Yeah, he had a lot of success, but what did he struggle with? What ran through his head as he laid in his bed trying to fall asleep? What happened day-to-day that shaped him into a leader worth following?

Find out during “Dave in Real Life: Life Lessons from the Stories of King David,” May 23 through August 1.

Don’t be fooled by his name - Dave was no ordinary guy.

Join us Wednesdays to find out more.  Middle school meets in the Epicenter from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and high school meets in the Apex from 6:30-8:00 p.m.  You don’t want to miss these life stories.

Spring & Summer 2012 Events

Thursday, August 25, 2011 ~ 9:06 am

May 6—Small Groups End
• We’re taking a small break from small groups.  During the summer, we’re encouraging students to check out the evening service.

May 16—Refresh
• Everyone needs a bit of a refresher after wrapping up a school year. We’re cooking out and getting wet – can you imagine a better combo? We didn’t think so.
• Middle school from 6:00-7:30 pm on the front lawn
• High school from 6:30-8:00 pm on the softball field

June 5-9—HS Mission Trip to Elk Valley
• Since we value serving over sitting, we’re traveling back to Elk Valley, TN to partner with New Canaan Baptist Church.  Take part in construction in the morning and VBS at night—all while sharing the gospel with the community.
• Register online at sevierheights.smartevents.com; cost is $100. Registration ends May 20.
• Attend a mandatory parent/student meeting May 20 at 5:00 p.m. in the Apex.

June 25-29—Summer Camp (Darlington School – Rome, GA)
• Game on. Summer Camp is back and we’ve got quite the collection of nonsense to take part in.  Jump into a week of team challenges, REC, late nights and a look at rooting yourself in faith.
• Early registration ends June 3/late registration ends June 17. Register online at sevierheights.smartevents.com; various cost (but early birds get the discounts).
• Attend a mandatory parent/student meeting June 17 at 5:00 p.m. in the Apex.

July 18—Float Trip (Sign-Ups Coming)
• The lazy days of summer call for a lazy trip down the river.  We’re floating our way down Townsend and then grabbing a bite to eat.  Because that’s how we roll—or float.

August 8—Elevate at the Court South Beach (located on Alcoa Hwy across from Pilot)
• What a bummer, it’s the end of summer.  But rhyming eases the pain, right? Drown your tears in food, swimming, music and games at our end-of-the-summer pool party.
• Middle and high school students – 6:00-8:00 p.m.

August 15—Open House
• Meet the staff and teachers, get info on what’s coming - you know, start the year off right.
• Middle school at 6:00 p.m. in the Epicenter.
• High school at 6:30 p.m. in the Apex.

August 19—Promotion Sunday
• You get older.  Good thing we don’t.  You’re moving up a grade.  We don’t age a bit.
